About Us

West Central is a non-profit organization that has provided mental health services to local communities for over 40 years. Our mission is to provide high quality behavioral health services that help individuals and families realize their full potential. We have offices in Canon City, Salida, Buena Vista, Leadville and Westcliffe. Our agency receives the majority of its funding from Medicaid, client fees and contracts with the state of Colorado.

Our staff consists of professionals specially trained to help people deal with psychological problems.

Our full-time Medical Director is a board certified psychiatrist who is part of the clinical treatment team and oversees the services provided by other medical staff. Our staff works to provide individuals and families with the best possible treatment planning and service delivery.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors for West Central Mental Health Center, Inc. is comprised of individuals from each of the four counties in our area. Our Directors are drawn from a wide variety of personal and professional backgrounds. Selection for Board membership is based upon the individual's interest and ability to represent the interests of the communities we serve.

Responsibilities of the Board include:

• Provide oversight and direction at a policy level to ensure that West Central Mental Health provides accessible, affordable services of the highest quality to consumers and their families.

• Appoint and review the Chief Executive Officer who provides administrative leadership for West Central Mental Health.

• Regularly review summaries on a variety of performance indicators, including clinical, financial and State of Colorado accountability measures.

• Attend monthly meetings, including an annual Board Planning Retreat each Fall.
